While adoption is a joyous occasion we understand that not every domestic relations is a pleasant experience. Adoption
Our attorneys have significant experience in both domestic and foreign adoptions. We have assisted non-profit organizations and families in a number of foreign adoptions involving the countries of China, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, and others.
Many adopting parents are surprised to learn that the state of Mississippi does not automatically recognize a foreign adoption. We are skilled in assisting families through Mississippi’s re-adoption process. We are also pleased to offer domestic adoption services as a part of our family law practice.
Divorce
Asset Division
Every divorce involves the division of marital and non-marital assets. We offer counsel regarding the classification of assets and as to the appropriate division of those assets. Upon a determination of the appropriate classification of the assets we aggressively advocate this position on behalf of the client.
Alimony
In some cases, a divorcing spouse will be entitled to spousal support in the form of alimony. Our experienced attorneys examine each case for the appropriateness of alimony aggressively use the legal process to support an alimony claim.
Child Custody
For clients with minor children, child custody is an extremely important consideration in the divorce process. Our attorneys are well-versed in Mississippi’s child custody case law. As important, our attorneys have a wealth of experience litigating child custody matters in Hinds, Rankin, Madison, and surrounding counties. We have practiced before each of the chancellors in the respective chancery courts listed and we can offer our valuable experience from having practiced before these courts.
Child Support
As part of our divorce and child custody representation we analyze the child support consequences of the custodial decision or agreement, ensuring the proper and legal payment of child support. We also assist our divorce clients in understanding that child support encompasses much more than a provision of financial assistance.
